LYTTLE'S FRUSTRATION ON AFC FYLDE

LYTTLE'S FRUSTRATION ON AFC FYLDE

Archie Baynham

Tyler Lyttle expressed his frustration with the performance on Saturday as Tamworth lost their opening home game to AFC Fylde.

The Lambs took the lead through Kieren Donnelly but were unable to hold on before the break as the visitors managed to turn the game around to win 2-1.

Lyttle said: “Obviously, very disappointing.

“After coming off the back of a good result last week at Boreham Wood, we felt like the first game at home this season, we wanted to set our standard here. We talk about making it a fortress, and even though we didn’t play well first half, we took the lead, had a few more chances there, and a bit disappointing to concede two before half time.”

Despite the result, Lyttle was pleased with the chances created by him and the team, and showed that there are positives to take from the game.

He said: “It’s going to hurt now, and everyone’s going to be looking at the negatives, but if you look back on this game, I think there was 22 chances we had in the 90 minutes.

“Like I said, that’s enough to win two or three games. If you flip it, and create a positive, we are creating those chances. It’s just showing a bit more quality to try and take those chances.

“We’ve always got to take it game-by-game because every game is different. I think the fans that came last week saw what we was about. They saw three goals, but we don’t want to have to score two, three or four goals a game to get the win.

“The National League is tough, it’s a tough league, but as you can see today, with the amount of chances that we had, we probably could’ve won two games if we’re being honest about it. Really disappointing, it’s going to hurt now, but dust ourselves down, go again Tuesday and ready for next week as well.”

Lyttle made sure to thank the 1,031 supporters in attendance too.

He said: “They were brilliant. They backed us right until the end. My first league game here as a home player, so I can’t thank them enough. Next home game, we can give them a bit more to shout about, but I can’t thank them enough.”
