KURTARAN ON "CRUEL ENDING" AGAINST THE GLOVERS
Teo Kurtaran reflected on Monday’s defeat to Yeovil with a sense of disappointment as the Lambs lost 3-2 at Huish Park.
The opener for the Glovers came midway through the first half and they were ahead until Jake Hutchinson netted the equaliser on the brink of half time. After a deflected effort put the hosts back in front, and then another deflected effort extended the score to 3-1, Tamworth continued to fight for a way back.
Kieren Donnelly made it 3-2 in the 68th minute, and Tamworth thought they had an equaliser in the 89th minute through Haydn Hollis, only for it to be ruled out by the assistant referee after a lengthy delay.
Kurtaran said: “That last [disallowed] goal was very difficult to take.
“As staff, players, everyone associated with Tamworth. Just because we worked so hard to stay in the game and then it felt like we put pressure on them at the end. Then to nick it, and get it disallowed a minute later was pretty cruel.”
Despite the defeat, Kurtaran was pleased with a lot of the performance, and was able to stay positive going into the week ahead.
He said: “It’s kind of what we base ourselves on, staying in the game, making sure we’re difficult to play against, defending well, and limiting them to not too many chances, and then maybe getting them on the break down the side. I thought we did that well, at times. I thought they had very good spells. They like to knock it about, work it into different areas, and they did hurt us at times, but it also felt like we hurt them at other times too.
“I think to come to a ground like this and for it to only be 3-2, and considering we had a goal disallowed in the last minute, you can take some positives away.
“We’d have wanted a point or three, but that’s football sometimes. I think going into Saturday’s game is going to be a tough game as every game is in this league, but we want the Lamb rocking and bouncing like it was on Friday.”
He also thanked the 93 supporters that made the 300 mile round trip to Huish Park.
Kurtaran said: “Whenever we have an away game, no matter how far away it is, there’s always supporters coming in numbers. You can hear them as well, which is amazing.”
