The Lambs fell to a 3-2 to defeat with loanee Ramell Carter grabbing a brace either side of half time.
Champelovier said: “It was a tough one to break down.
“I didn’t think were great structurally in the first half. I think we were a little bit better second half and had quite a few chances. It’s a little bit like we were at the start of the season where we didn’t really do well in both boxes. I don’t feel like we defended our box very well. We did have some good chances as well, but we didn’ t take those, so a tale of both boxes again really.
“Second half, we were a lot better, but structurally not great. Overall, they were a good young side to be fair to them. Lively, quick, some really good players. It just felt like if we scored the second, and hadn’t conceded so quickly, I think we might have gone on and won it. It might just have been a little bit too strong for them.”
Carter arrived on a short-term loan last month, joining from Premier League side Hull City. Champelovier said how he was pleased with Carter’s work rate, and how he’s settled into the team.
He said: “A bright spark.
“We were looking for a little bit more dynamism and energy in the final third. He’s got a lovely left foot, and to be fair to him, the most pleasing thing for us is his work rate. He’s worked so hard and deserved those goals tonight, he’s done well. We’ve had to bring him off just to try and manage minutes a little bit with him. We’re trying to build him up, he got more minutes and he’s a real threat.
“He hurt them a lot, particularly first half. We’re really pleased with him, he looks a really good signing, an exciting one, and we’re hoping he can transform the sort of goals and form tonight into the league.”
Due to the postponement of the game against Gateshead on Saturday 7th November, Tamworth are without a league game until they travel to Hornchurch on Saturday 14th November. Champelovier confirmed the team would use their time to train and improve.
He said: “We can always improve. It’s felt like we have for the last six weeks, we’ve been better. There’s things we’ve needed to work on, and have worked hard on. Our form told a story, we’ve been better. There’s things [from Tuesday] that we can work on but we will train Thursday, train Saturday, and again Thursday for two really big games. We’ve got Hornchurch away and then Eastleigh at home. Two big games where we need to pick up points.”
