The Lambs recorded their first clean sheet of the 26/27 season, and their first at home since the Easter Weekend of the previous campaign.
Kieren Donnelly netted for his sixth goal of the campaign as a shot from Joe Rye was parried into his path by the Sutton goalkeeper, and Donnelly tapped home. Five minutes later, Tamworth doubled their lead as a corner came in and Sutton defender Emmanuel Osadebe headed the ball into his own net.
Peaks said: “That was what we’re all about.
“That’s what I want us to be like from the first minute to the last. Loads of energy, pressing the ball, good shape, looking dangerous when we went forward, people doing their jobs, no individual errors, people sticking together, and that’s what we’re all about. That is our blueprint.”
Following the heavy defeat to Aldershot Town on Saturday, Peaks felt that the shift in mentality, shape and energy was there to see, insisting it was “completely different.”
He said: “I don’t think you can even compare them because we were down so early Saturday.
“When you concede two early goals, like we did on Saturday, I think it’s a non-entity to a degree. This is completely different, we’re back at home. The shape was good, I thought first half, we got better and better. Went in at half-time really pleased with the performance, disappointed we weren’t in front. For me, it was key at the start of the second half.
We started as we ended the first and certainly didn’t concede and give them a lift because it looked like we got stronger and stronger as the first half went on. We came out second half wanting to do the same. We had to make a change, Tom Parkes came off because he had a couple of collisions. We started the second half really well, and to get two goals was great because it gives people even more belief then.”
There was also a milestone for the management, too, as Peaks celebrated his 250th game in style.
He said: “I didn’t know that until after.
“For 250 games, it’s obviously a great honour. For me, that’s the blueprint of me, so I’ll take that. A clean sheet, three points at home, that’s what we’ve based our success on over the last four or five years. It’s been tough the last few weeks, and there’s going to be some tough games ahead.
“That makes it even sweeter for my 250th game, but tonight’s not about me, it’s about the boys because they all stood up and were counted. We had a lot missing, let’s not forget that.
We were down to very low numbers in the squad, brought a couple of loans in who both played their part, and they rallied round as a group, so it’s about them.”
