Tamworth have a short break in league action, as they prepare to take on Leeds United U21 in their latest National League cup venture, looking to leap into the top two spaces in Group C.
The opposition
Leeds United U21 are the inaugural winners of the National League Cup, beating Sutton United to the title in 2024/25. They finished second in their group that season, advancing to the knockout stage with Newcastle United U21. Tamworth finished bottom of the group.
In 25/26, they were placed in Group D where they finished fourth on six points, losing out on the chance to defend their title further.
This season so far, Leeds sit just below the Lambs in Group C, both teams having won and lost a game each. Following a 5-2 defeat to Boreham Wood, they were victorious at Damson Park against Solihull Moors.
In Premier League 2, Leeds United currently sit tenth after four games, already solidifying themselves as one of the more prolific teams in the division.
Several players from the academy are currently out on loan, including Harry Gray, brother of Premier League player Archie Gray, as well as midfielders Sam Chambers and Charlie Crew, who have been loaned out to League Two.

Management’s view – the last game: Hartlepool United (A)
Assistant Manager Neil Champolovier said: “Absolutely brilliant.
“After Wednesday’s brilliant result at home, really important that we gain a little bit of momentum. We haven’t been great, although we won [against] Worthing, we didn’t back it up and you get on that slippery slope again. The focus this week was really just about backing up Wednesday and making sure that the performance levels were high.”
