The opposition

Aldershot Town were founded in 1992 following the financial troubles and subsequent closure of Aldershot Football Club. Many of the supporters followed over to the new club, which continued to play at the Recreation Ground, and started life in the Isthmian League Division Three.

The club quickly rose through the ranks, and reached the National League (known then as the Conference National) in 2003 where they had back-to-back playoff campaigns.

Another promotion followed under Gary Waddock and he led them to the Football League, where they spent five seasons in League Two before relegation beckoned in 2013.

Since then, they have remained in the National League, securing two playoff campaigns before recent years have seen them plateau and finish in the bottom half of the division.

Despite their short history as Aldershot Town, they have had plenty of cup success. Ventures into the Fourth Round of both the FA Cup and EFL Cup have seen them garner plenty of publicity, including a tie against Manchester United in 2012. However, recent silverware came in the fashion of the FA Trophy, defeating Spennymoor Town 3-0 at Wembley.

Nicknamed the Shots, they share rivalries with Surrey-based side Woking and local Rushmoor neighbours Farnborough. Some supporters consider Reading to be a rival, however fixtures between the sides are rare due to differences in league position.

Scott Davies is manager of Aldershot Town, having joined from being player-manager of National South side Slough Town in April.

Ones to watch

Tristan Abrahams is one of the most prolific strikers in the league so far this season, finding the net five times in nine appearances.

Marcus Dinanga helps with a lot of the chances, too, adding three assists to his name so far this season.
