Despite not reaching the levels of last weeks win against Rugby, Tamworths effort and work rate alone should have seen them get something more than we did. Tamworth nearly took the lead on 30 mins,Molly McKinlay hit a powerful free kick hammering against the crossbar with the home keeper beaten. Chances came and went, the majority of them falling Tamworths way but they just couldnt find that all important goal.
0-0 half time.
Walsall had the first chance early in the 2nd half but goalkeeper Harriet Price pulled off a brilliant save to keep the hosts at bay. Back down the other end good play from Milly Clarke finding her strike partner Aimee Taylor whos shot was well kept out. As thoughts turned towards potential penalties Ellé Haywood nearly won it for Tamworth, after a strong run she let fly from 25 yards but agonisingly whistled just past the post.
So on to penalties, the hosts running out winners. Cruel on the girls who again all performed well.
P.o.t.m this week is Becky Milner. Mentions to captain Molly McKinlay who led by example all game, new signing Carlea Chant had a solid debut also. Becky takes the award this week tho, defended well, never lost a header or tackle all game and generally,as with all the girls, didnt deserve to go out of the cup today. Onto next week where will look to bounce back with a league game vs Newcastle
