In the first meeting between the sides since the 2017-18 National League North campaign Ben Milnes early strike gave Andy Peaks’ Lambs hope at Wetherby Road in the first of two difficult away trips in four days as they went in search of their second Enterprise National League win of the season. But Simon Weaver’s 3rd placed Sulphurites, who had dropped down from EFL League 2, came back to take victory and temporarily take top spot.

Jas Singh returned to league action too, in the only change to the starting eleven from the 2-2 draw with Boston United the previous weekend.
Live on DAZN, the home side got the 12.30 kick off underway and there was little to choose between the two teams in the first five minutes.
But on 6, after a strong run by Donnelly was disrupted by the home defence, the ball fell invitingly for Ben Milnes who placed his shot from 20 yards into the back of the net off the left and upright to the delight of the travelling faithful (0-1, 6 mins) but there was still a long way to go for both sides.
Bailey Hobson was provided with an opportunity to test Singh on 11 minutes but leant back when he struck the incoming left wing cross right footed and cleared the small stand behind the Lambs keeper with his effort from the edge of the area.
Morgan Williams then drove a low effort off the Lambs defence for a corner on 13 minutes and they had to concentrate to clear the danger and the resulting passages of play which heavily involved Ethan Bristow.
But there were unable to stop Bailey Hobson from breaking through the back line and angling his strike past Singh from the right and inside the far post to lift the roof on the home terraces (1-1, 16 mins)
The blustery wet weather continued to drive down the Marcy Fitness Stadium pitch towards Singh as the first half continued and a flowing move involving Bristow and Josh Hmami caused problems on 23 minutes. The ball pinged around the box with the home crowd vocal in anticipation until a foul halted play as Shawn McCoulsky’s on target header was booted away.
McGowan went down very quickly under a challenge from TJ Bramble in the area on 28 minutes, and referee Watson was not swayed by his ‘dive’.
After going down and feeling a twinge in his left leg earlier in the half, with a third of the game completed Luke Fairlamb was unable to continue and so Ricky Calder replaced him for the remainder.
Calder’s first touch released Ban Acquaye down the left wing and he in turn formed a corner which Milnes received back and played for the witing Hayden Hollis. However, his first time strike from 12 yards rose over the bar without testing Town keeper Luke Hutchinson.
Roberts picked up a yellow card for a shirt pull on Hmami on 34 minutes and when the ball came out to Hobson, he tried to find the top corner from 30 yards but was a few yards high with his aim.
The referee had some sorting out to do on 40 minutes after Milnes was sent to the ground and booked both McCoulsky and Williams for their involvement in the foul and the minor melee afterwards, before play restarted.
However, the home side were allowed to advance through the right channel and supply Will McGowan with a ball to feet in the 42 minute, and he duly angled his finish past Singh and into the bottom left (2-1, 42 mins)
Singh punched, blocked and eventually smothered a Harrogate attack less than two minutes later as Hmami and McCoulsky threatened and McGowan also went very close with a curling strike from the edge of the D which narrowly missed sneaking into the same side of the net, as three minutes added time was shown.
Dan Creaney then picked up a booking for his response to a decision he clearly didn’t agree with fully, before the whistle drew the half to a close.

The Lambs restarted the game and Roberts had the first chance of the second period but his left boot swing saw the connection go wildly off target.
For two clumsy fouls in the space of a couple of minutes, Warren Burrell was duly booked with 51 minutes on the clock and Tamworth continued to frustrate their hosts with Milnes finding himself on the floor once again on 53 minutes. However, the resulting freekicks from all of the infringements came to nothing.
Harrogate responded by pressing high and forcing two corners in quick succession, the second of which Singh punched away from danger a yard off his goalline.
Milnes took a blow to the face and needed treatment on the hour, and was OK to continue but had to leave the field and Peaks made two changes.
However, in the next passage of play and with Milnes still on the side lines awaiting the OK to return, McGowan got the ball in midfield, fed Hmami in the box and he made no mistake with a low placed shot past Singh which put Harrogate top of the table on goal difference. (3-1, 64 mins)
McGowan was able to drive towards the target on 69 minutes but also straight at Singh, and Howley got a good block in less than 60 seconds later when Bristow was released into the area.
From the corner, Singh mispunched his clearance and it span behind him before Jordan Cullinane-Liburd cleared it off the line ahead of McGowan’s attempted finishing touch, and The Lambs escaped another goal against.
Peaks rolled the dice with two final changes with ten minutes remaining although the home side were still looking for more goals and Lewis Cass found substitute George Thomson who tested Singh with a low shot which the keeper took low relatively easily.
Creaney connected his header with a McGlinchey freekick in the first of seven added minutes, but was unable to direct it on target, and the final whistle blew soon after on another frustrating afternoon on the road.
