In the run up to the game Tamworth boss Andy Peaks brought Ryan Howley back to The Lamb again with the help of Team Builder, on loan from Bristol Rovers for 3 months. But he did not feature in the squad which had three changes to the previous starting eleven as Dan Creaney, Ben Acquaye and Ben Milnes came in after the 3-2 reversal on Bank Holiday Monday at Huish Park.

Paul Hursts’ United side started proceedings with The Lambs attacking the Meadow Street End and an early freekick was handed to Morgan Roberts on the right wing who sent it into the box for Creaney but his header skipped wide of the far post.
Another chance was forthcoming soon after when Ben Acquaye sprinted down the left and skinned Jake Rooney before planting an inviting cross into the path of Creaney on 7 minutes, but the Lambs forward was unable to change its direction enough to get it anywhere near the target.
Acquaye tried his luck from range with 10 minutes on the clock but his strike rose quickly over Louis Chadwick’s goal and The Lambs maintained their momentum.
They forced a corner 3 minutes later which Roberts took and Rye met it at the far post forcing the Pilgrims defence to scramble it away.
Visiting captain Niall Canavan got in the way of an Acquaye centre and chested it back to Chadwick with Donnelly closing in on 16 minutes, before a quick break forced Fairlamb to conceded a corner at the other end but it was intercepted and a combination of Acquaye and Roberts quashed any danger.
Milnes drilled an angled low shot from 25 yards on target on 20 minutes, forcing Chadwick to drop and push it away from the goal, and Boston responded with Sai Sachdev going down under pressure from Luke Fairlamb just outside the right of the Lambs area.
Kai Mauro lined up and drilled the resulting freekick towards goal forcing Rhys Lovett into action for the first time in the game, punching it away from under the bar.
At the other end Milnes robbed the ball off the Pilgrims defence and drilled it into the box for Donnelly, who saw his shot on target deflected behind for a corner.
And from Milnes flagkick the Lambs captain received it back and floated it into the box for Donnelly to meet with a perfect header past Chadwick (1-0, 23 mins)
Roberts sent TJ Bramble free down the middle on 27 minutes and he cur slightly to his left before going for goal but was denied by Chadwick, making himself impassable with outstretched arms and legs when it looked like Tamworth may double their lead.
But Boston drew the game level on 32 minutes when, after Roberts had been forced to concede a corner on the left, Jamie Grimes got his unmarked header past Lovett at the far post (1-1, 32 mins)
After the equaliser, both sides struggled to get a clear sight on goal, although both keepers did get touches from long balls or misplaced crosses.
Donnelly was booked for a clear and obvious ‘Maradona’ type of handball when he jumped with Chadwick in the area as The Lambs tried to exert some pressure before half time.
And Donnelly was spectacularly denied by a superb Gordon Banks-esque save by the keeper from a downward header towards the far post on 43 minutes to prevent the advantage going into the home dressing room at the break..

Tamworth restarted proceedings and started the brighter of the two sides, going close on 50 minutes when Jordan Cullinane-Liburd lunged for a header at the far post from a corner, but was unable to connect fully.
And it paid off on 53 when Donnelly flicked it through for Roberts who lifted his first time shot from the right of the box up and over the high stretch of Chadwick and into the top left corner (2-1, 53 mins)
Roberts turned provider for Creaney on 57 minutes with a pass up and over the Boston defence into the box, but the latter was unable to get his position and shot under control.
In a rare threat from the visitors, Tom Cursons fired straight into the arms of Lovett on 62 minutes and scores were level a minute later, when a ball from the right made it’s way through the Lambs high back line and substitute Levell John-Lewis had just Lovett to beat, which he did from the edge of the area (2-2, 63 mins)
The Lambs responded by pushing United back and earned a couple of corners but they were unable to test Chadwick and another flagkick on 71 minutes was headed goalward by Creaney but headed away as it dropped towards goal by Terrell Agyemang.
Milnes sent a dangerous ball in from the right on 74 minutes aimed for Creaney but Sachdev did enough to put him off and it skipped off the surface and off the Lambs forward and out past the far post.
A Milnes freekick bounced invitingly for Creaney but his header was straight at Chadwick on 80 minutes, and Peaks made three changes as the final minutes came into view.
Jake Rooney shot from 25 yards on 89 minutes, straight at Lovett and substitute Nathan Tshikuna set Creaney free over the halfway line a minute later but he was unable to beat Chadwick with his shot from the left of the area.
Tshikuna then curled a low shot just wide of the right hand post from 18 yards in the final action of the game.

Tamworth are next in action on Wednesday evening when Middlesbrough PL2 visit the HD Ricketts Community Stadium at The Lamb, in the National League Cup.
