After the resounding home victories over Altrincham and Boreham Wood, Andy Peaks’ Lambs, in 10th place in the Enterprise National League, made the long midweek journey to Huish Park to face Billy Rowley’s 17th placed side.
Tamworth, with an unchanged starting eleven from the weekend, kicked off the game and both sides started briskly.
Lynch was caught just offside on 8, as he advanced down the left but both keepers were spectators for the most part in the opening 15 minutes.
Sims forced a corner for the home side off Digi on 19 and Daly was at the near post and flicked it on, but the Lambs defence got to the loose ball first and cleared the danger.
The Glovers forced another corner on 28 and McGavin ‘s curling flagkick was headed away by Digie a couple of feet off the goalline out as far as Mafico, but his snapshot was high and wide, into the empty terracing behind Singh’s goal.
Bates tracked back to prevent the run of Mukena causing problems in the Lambs box on 33 as the home side enjoyed a little more of possession and the first clear cut chance came on 36 as Perrett fired wide of the left hand post from 18 yards when a cross from the left was only half cleared.
Cullinane-Liburd cut out a well timed run from Sims and prevented him from striking on target, conceding a corner in the process which Singh collected easily.
Jones beat the Lambs keeper to open the scoring on 40 though, cutting in from the left with a couple of fine touches to beat Rye and strike diagonally into the far corner (1-0, 40 mins)
One minute added time was shown at the end of the first half, and Daly made a strong run into the left of the box but was unable to keep his feet in the final action before the whistle blew.
HT: 1-0
Yeovil restarted the game, after both sides had made a change, and from a Cullinane-Liburd throw a corner resulted but Lynch’s header dropped over the bar, and on 52 Daly weaved into the box as Singh came to clear the danger and although his attempted finish was notionally on target it was no trouble for Digie to deal with.
Mafiko was felled on the edge of the area on 54, setting McGavin up with the deadball and he directed it over the wall forcing Singh to bat it away and it fell kindly 12 yards out for Skura to half volley into the back of the net. (2-0, 55 mins)
Singh was called into action when Sims cut into the right of the area and along the byline before trying a deft chip past the Lambs keeper, but he got in the way and made a smart double save to prevent a third goal for the home side.
Rye intercepted and cleared the ball off the feet of Skura following an incisive pass into the box on 66, conceding a corner on the right, which came back out to McGavin and he tried his luck from 30 yards but only found the home terracing behind Singh’s goal.
Lynch forced a corner from a deflected cross inside the area on 72 and made two changes before the flagkick came in, which the home defence headed away from substitute Creaney.
There was another corner soon after when Roberts run forced the Yeovil defence to take it away off his toes, but Bates ball back into the area was taken at height by Ward.
Roberts took a knock on 77 and was unable to continue so Cockerill-Mollett replaced the substitute with 10 remaining and from a home corner on 82 Yeovil had the ball in the net again but it was ruled out for a push on Digie which saw The Lambs defender hit the deck.
Lambs sub Reindorf beat Ward to the ball as both raced to meet it on the edge of the area on 88 and he lifted it over the keeper, but it dropped wide of the mark.
Six minutes added time was shown at the end of the game and Bates was booked for a foul on Mafico as time ticked down.
Milnes left wing cross, aimed for Reindorf, was headed behind for a Lambs corner on the right and it was initially cleared but came back in and Digie got his head to it but it dropped just wide of the near post.
Deep into stoppage time a McGavin freekick was fumbled by Singh and Campbell followed it in, and got a touch, but Singh was equal to it and when play restarted the final whistle blew on defeat in Somerset.
