Mols is spot on for three points at Brackley

Tamworth FC28 Mar - 16:58

Stefan's 10th goal of the season brings the points back to The Lamb

After the last minute midweek win over Forest Green Rovers, Andy Peaks Lambs squad made the short journey to St. James Park to take on Andy Whing's Saints on Non League Day 2026.
With six games to go for both sides, the home team started the afternoon in the top relegation spot, two points behind Gateshead, with just one win in their last 16 league games, while Tamworth could move up into 10th should they record a victory on the road, dependant on Woking's result away to second placed York City.

Luke Fairlamb made his 150th appearance for The Lambs, while Oliver Lynch clocked up 50 too, as Peaks made one change from midweek as Joe Riley came in for Ben Milnes in midfield.

The Lambs got the game underway, attacking the goal at the opposite end to the travelling faithful but there was little in the way of goalmouth action at either end in the opening ten minutes, although Singh had a couple more touches than his counterpart Rhone, when left wing ball from Roberts skipped through into the six yard box.
After an early change for the hone side, a foul on the left wing allowed Kurtaran the chance to send the deadball into the box on 16, and Mols connected on the edge of the area, but it looped up high and wide of the mark.
A minute later Kurtaran whipped the ball into the box from the left again, and Mols got free of his marker to lash it across the face of goal from the right of the box, forcing Rhone to bat it away for a corner on the left but the keeper took the flagkick at height.
As time progressed, Tamworth started to come into the game more, forcing another corner on 19 which Rhone punched away and then Acquaye sent a corner from the right into the box with Cullinane-Liburd beaten to his header at the far post. Tamworth retained possession but Acquaye's shot from the left channel on 21 went wide of the left hand post without troubling Rhone.
Rye sent a searching ball into the run of Lynch down the right on 26, but his first touch took it just too far from him before he could get a shot away and Rhone collected.
Acquaye forced another corner with a cross deflected off Morrison and Kurtaran sent it in from the left flag but a combination of the Brackley defence, a punch clear from Rhone and the offside flag halted The Lambs momentum.
Mols tracked back to deny the run and cross of Roberts, down the Brackley left, on 34 and it took a defensive header from Creaney to clear the danger from the resulting throw.
Lynch needed treatment on the pitch on 36, and walked off after a minute, coming back on a minute later.
With five remaining, substitute Tripp slammed a strike, set up by Hall, into the side netting and before play could restart Lynch made way for Reindorf.
Rye was booked for a late challenge on Pollock on the halfway line on 41, and Brackley advanced, with Lilly striking from 25 yards in the next move and a defensive touch took it away from the target for a corner on the right which fell to Mols and he cleared his lines.
Tamworth pressed up field into added time at the end of the half and Acquaye forced a left sided corner on 49, and it was headed over his own bar by Lilly for another on the opposite side which Rhone punched clear as the whistle blew.

HT: 0-0

The home side restarted proceedings and on 47 Hall found Lowe on the edge of the box and he turned a struck it low, forcing Singh to push it away for a corner which rebounded around the area and was eventually knocked wide of the mark through a crowded area.
Lowe tried his luck again, on 48 curling his shot from a similar position over the corner of bar and post and he was a nuisance again on 50, latching onto a knock through the back line but his touch was clawed out of the air by Singh.
Hall was booked for a blatant handball / punch of the ball from a Brackley cross into the box on 52 and Digie was able to take it away from Pollock as he bore down on the loose ball on 53, as The Saints continued their front foot approach to the second half.
It took until the hour for The Lambs to get a sight o goal when Acquaye pulled it back for Creaney who picked his spot but found a Brackley defender in the path of the ball, and it was a similar case for Riley in the next move.
Tamworth maintained possession without creating a clear chance, until Digie was adjudged to have pulled the shirt of Byrne.
A deep freekick from Singh bounced through into the box on 64 and Mols was tripped by Roberts, giving the referee no choice but to award a penalty, and Mols dusted himself down before slotting it home to the right, as Rhone went the other way, for his tenth goal of the season (0-1, 65 mins)
The Lambs went in search of a second goal, and Mols was brought down by Byrne, setting Kurtaran up with the freekick but his strike rose over the crossbar.
Whing made a change on 69, as the home side changed formation to try and get something from the game, and substitute Harratt picked up a bouncing clearance on 71 striking it on the half volley over the target.
Pollock sent a right wing freekick into the area on 72 and Lowe's diving header went out past the near post, with Singh diving to make sure.
Cullinane-Liburd had to head a Roberts cross away for a corner on 73, which was put behind for another for Pollock to take and with nine players in the final third, Brackley forced another, on the right on 75, which was too long and came to nothing.
As the sun continued to shine down on Northamptonshire, Acquaye made way for McGlinchey with just over 10 remaining and the latter drilled a low ball across the box on 81 but Mols was unable to get the decisive touch, and Creaney followed up but found his way blocked forcing Rhone to clear his lines.
As the game moved towards the final minutes, a foul on Roberts on the Brackley left had to be dealt with and after a desperate game of pinball in the area, it eventually bobbled out for a goalkick to the relief of the 188 travelling faithful.
Five minutes added time were shown at the end of the second half and The Lambs played keep ball, taking it into the corner to ride the clock down and Reindorf was booked following a Lambs attack that broke down.
At the other end when a player went down in the Lambs area on 96 everyone in the ground held their collective breaths but despite big shouts from the home support and players there referee awarded the freekick the other way, and then blew his whistle on three points for The Lambs.
