Lynch strikes twice to lift The Lambs to tenth

After the 5-1 victory over Altrincham, the highest-scoring win for The Lambs during all their seasons in non-league’s topflight, Andy Peaks squad welcomed Luke Garrard’s 4th placed visitors to the Altair Group Community Stadium for their next Enterprise National League encounter.

Peaks made one change to the starting eleven that defeated The Robins.
With Tom Tonks not available Alfie Bates came into the midfield in his place as his side looked for the same points haul as in the away fixture earlier in the season where The Lambs had recorded a fine victory.

Tamworth kicked off towards the Castle End and immediately pushed the visitors back but Mols was unable to get onto the end of Kurtaran’s knock back.
Inside the second minute Richardson connected with a hopeful through ball and Singh got in the way to deflect it into the side netting.
There was an enforced stoppage on 4 when one of the referee’s assistants needed treatment and there was a lengthy delay before play could restart, while the fourth official swapped places with him.
A foul on Kurtaran in the right of midfield on 11 was only partially cleared and Acquaye’s cross was difficult for Digie to get his head to, under the watchful eye of Bush as Tamworth continued to take the game to the visitors.
A wayward pass from Booty on 16 fell to Mols and he advanced into the area, but was unable to take it past the covering defenders.
Abdulmalik made headway into the left of the area and drilled a low cross for Marshall-Miranda but he powerfully sidefooted it over the crossbar from 12 yards.
The Lambs took the lead though on 24 when Bush lost his footing on the edge of the area and Mols took full advantage feeding Oliver Lynch who took a couple of touches before rolling it home from 6 yards. (1-0, 24 mins)
From Lynch’s hoofed clearance from a Wood corner on 32 The Lambs broke forwards but Kurtaran and Acquaye were unable to test Curd from distance, with the latter’s effort skipping wide of the right hand post.
Singh left his area to take the ball off and away from Richardson and Coxe’s intended attack on 40, and sent it high into the car park behind the main stand and in the next move Mols and Lynch combined down the right with the latter beating his man and returning a pass into the box but Curd got their before Mols could reach it.
Rye took the brunt of an Abdulmalik cross on 44 and needed a moment to recover before the flagkick came in from the left and Lynch cleared The Lambs lines again.
Eight minutes added time was shown at the end of the first half, largely to account for the earlier injury to the match official, and Kurtaran’s freekick popped up for Digie in the box but his shot looped into the arms of Curd.
Richardson found space to slam a right footed effort from the right of the box into the side netting on 50, but Singh’s goal was never really in any danger on the last action of the half

HT: 1-0

With the sun dropping behind the Castle End, Boreham restarted the game and went straight to the Meadow Street End and Coxe pulled it back from the right bye-line for Booty but he angled his shot just past the left hand post.
There was a stoppage as Coxe had fell awkwardly and needed treatment after his cross, and when play restarted The Lambs doubled their advantage.
Acquaye took advantage of hesitancy in the Boreham midfield to rob the ball and advance down the left before pulling it back into the box, and Mols was perfectly placed, unmarked in the back of the box, to fire home past Curd (2-0, 52 mins)
Shouts for a penalty when Mols went down under pressure on 54 were waved away by the referee, and on 56 Lynch only had Curd to beat but found the keeper in good form to deny his angled finish.
Abdulmalik made a strong run into the area and crossed for Brunt to head down on target, but Singh was fell placed and smothered it.
Abdulmalik then cut along the edge of the box before shooting off target high over the Meadow Street terracing.
However Wood did pull one back on 58 when Rush scooped the ball off the floor and into the far corner after a combination of Singh and his covering defenders had been unable to clear the danger fully (2-1, 58 mins)
The Lambs restored the advantage on 61 though when Lynch powered it home from the edge of the box when the ball, which really came in for Mols, rebounded out for the Lambs striker and he made no mistake (3-1, 61 mins)
A Cullinane-Liburd throw from the right on 74 was flicked on by Lynch but too far away from Mols for his to net his second, however Rush did net his second on 76, receiving the ball in the box and slotting it under Singh to reduce the arrears again (3-2, 76 mins)
Cullinane-Liburd bravely headed it away from Rush for a corner on 85 as he looked for his hat-trick, and the visitors maintained possession, pushing The Lambs back into the final third, until Rush’s cross was taken by Singh.
Eight minutes added time was shown at the end of the second half, and Boreham went in search of an equaliser, forcing a corner on 93 which Booty took short and it fell to Brunt who fired on target but found Singh well positioned to take it at head height.
Rush had another effort save by Singh on 96, and angled volley from the right of the box which the keeper smothered at his post, as Tamworth continued to hold strong at the back.
