Lambs hopes of a Valentine's Day win are shattered

Lambs hopes of a Valentine's Day win are shattered

Tamworth FC14 Feb - 19:43

as both teams see red and The Shots hit late late equaliser

After twice coming back for a point, which had the last minute penalty been given perhaps should have been three, at Morecambe’s Christie Park in midweek, Andy Peaks’ squad welcomed John Coleman’s resurgent 19th placed Aldershot Town side, who had lost just once in their last six league games and scored 10 in the last three, to the Altair Group Community Stadium at The Lamb.
Peaks made two changes to the side from Tuesday night, with Ben Milnes and Ben Acquaye swapping places on the bench with and Howley and Isichei.

Tamworth got the game underway attacking the Castle End in the first half and the game started with both sides moving the ball around on the floor, although on 6 a foul throw handed the ball to Tonks and he sent it into the area, until a foul by Isichei halted play.
Play was stopped by the referee on 9 when Scott hit the floor holding his face, and with opposition players accusing Creaney of raising a hand, and after consultation with the assistant on the main stand side, The Lambs striker was shown a straight red card.
With a man disadvantage for the next 80 minutes The Lambs had a lot of work to do, but from a Tonks throw, which Boyce-Clarke punched away Isichei recycled it to Tonks and he struck from 20 yards into the grasp of the visiting keeper.
After a brief stoppage Lynch replaced Kurtaran on 16 and Tamworth remodelled the formation.
Grogan sidefooted a left wing cross wide of the mark on 23 and Patton struck the cross bar with a powerful strike from 18 yards on 27.
The Lambs were forced to defend strong around the half hour mark with everyone behind the ball as Hill struck left footed from the right of the area, up and over everyone in the crowded box.
Another Tonks throw was punched clear by the keeper but before Isichei could get a shot away the visitors had cleared their lines.
A through ball to Mols brought shouts of handball against the Aldershot defender on 36, and when they raced to the other end Anderson was booked for raising a boot into Singh trying to connect with a cross into the area, who needed treatment.
Inwood chipped from distance, rather than loading a strike, high over the target on 42 and at the other end a foul on Isichei set up Mols with the freekick in the left of the area but Lynch was called offside when he headed it at the far post.
Seven minutes added time was shown at the end of the half and Anderson missed a golden chance to open the scoring but missed the target when well placed.
Tonks launched another throw, from the right, on 47 and it sneaked through to Lynch in the back of the six yard box, but his angled finish went agonisingly past the near post.
Numbers were evened up after play restarted when Anderson fouled Howley in the centre circle, earning himself another yellow card and an early bath.
Isichei did all the hard work to get the ball past his marker on 52, but his final ball took a touch and diverted away from Lynch before the whistle blew.

HT: 0-0

The Shots restarted the game but The Lambs took the lead on 50 when a breaking run over the halfway line by Mols saw his advance to the edge of the box and he fed Lynch on the left who forced Boyce-Clarke to push his shot away but the keeper was unable to stop him scrambling home the rebound from close range to the delight of the home faithful. (1-0, 50 mins)
Lynch helped the ball on with a high pass into the area on 54 and Mols clattered with Boyce-Clarke in the area as the keeper punched it away, leaving the Lambs midfielder on the floor needing treatment before the corner could be taken.
Roberts replaced Isichei on the hour, and Tonks sent two throws into the box from the Cross Street corner shortly after but both were picked up and cleared from the back with a heft Aldershot boot.
Lynch was under a Roberts cross but Boyce-Clarke took it off his head on 68 and the Tamworth defence held strong when Jenkins and Hill tried low shot from the edge of the area in quick succession on 74.
oN 75, from Tonks throw on the right touchline Digie directed his header wide of the mark, and a clumsy challenge by Fairlamb on Peart on the right win gave the visitors a freekick which Warren loaded into the box and Cullinane-Liburd headed it away.
Another foul, from Howley on 80 left Inwood on the ground and needing treatment so play continued which he waited on the sideline and Lynch cleared the danger from Warren’s low drive.
Hill’s cross from the right was met by first time by Warren on 83 but he found his shot blocked and Roberts got rid of the threat.
Aldershot enjoyed a little more of the ball more than Tamworth as the minutes ticked down, as Bates came on for Tonks.
Eight minutes added time was shown at the end of the half, and Cullinane-Liburd had to head away a Peart cross as The Shots continued to exert pressure on the Lambs back line and it told in the second minute of added time when Warren followed up a parried blocked by Singh off Hills close range strike, angling the ball into the far corner from the left of the box (1-1, 90+2) and the Lambs and Shots had to share the Valentine’s day points.
