After a lively but goalless first half, the Lambs struck first through Oliver Lynch’s smart header, before Pools hit back with a leveller from Vadaine Oliver.
Tamworth created the opening chance inside the first ten minutes as a slick passage of play saw Dan Johnson break through, only to be denied by a fine save from Pools’ keeper Harvey Cartwright. Soon after, Jermaine Francis threatened with a close-range header, while Brad Walker fired narrowly wide from distance as the hosts enjoyed a spell of pressure.
The Lambs stood strong and nearly took the lead just before half-time when a rapid counter saw Beck Ray Enoru tee up Tyler Roberts, whose low strike was somehow cleared off the line by Nathan Sheron.
Five minutes after the restart, Tamworth’s resilience was rewarded. Enoru skipped past two defenders on the flank before delivering a delightful chip to the back post, where Oliver Lynch rose highest to nod beyond Cartwright and make it 1-0.
The lead lasted just over 15 minutes, as Hartlepool found a way back through Oliver, who converted from close range after good work down the left.
Despite a late push from the hosts, Tamworth came closest in stoppage time when Tom Tonks unleashed a low drive that Cartwright was forced to hold.
So, another positive point on the road keeps Andy Peaks’ side full of confidence heading into October, with the Lambs proving to be one of the league’s toughest teams to beat.
