On Tuesday 27 January, the Premier League Trophy will be at Tamworth FC’s Lamb
Ground for the club’s National League Cup quarter-final match against Halifax Town.
This is a great opportunity for fans and locals to get a rare, close-up look at the
famous trophy and to take photos with it in the club house before the match kicks off
at 19:45.
The National League Cup competition, created in partnership between the Premier
League and National League, launched last season and sees National League sides
compete with Premier League 2 teams.
Tamworth won all four of their group stage matches, defeating U-21 sides from
Blackburn Rovers, Burnley, Everton and Manchester United.
The Premier League has provided a prize pool for the competition of £1 million,
which is shared between the competing National League sides.
Since 2020, Tamworth FC have accessed more than £200,000 in grants from the
Premier League Stadium Fund towards upgrades at The Lamb Ground, including
installation of energy-efficient LED floodlights, club house refurbishment and the new
fan zone.
Now celebrating its 25th anniversary year, the Premier League Stadium Fund has
supplied more than £217 million, since 2000, to upgrade infrastructure at over 1,000
men’s and women’s clubs throughout the English Football League, National League
and football pyramid.
