Assistant manager Tim Dudding wants to see an end to Tamworth’s recent inconsistent performances in Tuesday’s clash with Macclesfield at The Lamb, kick-off 7.45pm.

Dudding knows missing good chances and conceding soft goals have cost the team in the recent home defeat to Aston Villa U21s and away at Halesowen Town on Saturday.

He wants to see far more positives than negatives against The Silkmen who will be a stiff test after finishing fourth in the National League North last season.

Dudding looked ahead to our penultimate pre-season clash, saying: “You obviously don’t want to concede the way we did (at Halesowen) in the first two minutes, however the passion, desire and resilience we showed is what we’ve always been about.

“From the 65th minute, we really turned the game around and our quality shone through in the end. The mentality switch to go and chase the game at the end was really pleasing.”

New signing Tom Parkes, who scored our last-gasp 85th minute equaliser on Saturday, was also buoyed by playing the full 90 minutes as the players continue to build their fitness ahead of the National League opener at Boreham Wood on August 8.

The centre back said: “Halesowen was a tough game but the lads fought hard to bounce back towards the end. I was happy to get 90 minutes and it’s always good to get on the scoresheet.

“Now we’ve got another good test against Macclesfield who are a quality side, had a great season last year so we know that won’t be easy.”
