Andy Peaks leads his Tamworth side into Saturday’s clash against Eastleigh in a confident mood, as the Lambs look to extend their impressive unbeaten run to eight games. Sitting 10th in the National League and 2nd in the form table, behind only champions-elect Barnet, Tamworth are riding a wave of momentum.
“The reason we are where we are is because we have a good group of players who work hard for each other and follow a strong philosophy,” said Peaks. “Hopefully, I manage them well, and between us, it seems to be working. There’s a real belief in the squad that we can beat anybody in this league, but we know everyone has to be at their best for that to happen. We’ve seen before that if a few players are off their game, we can lose. Football is a game of fine margins, but right now, the momentum is with us, and long may it continue.”
However, Peaks is under no illusions about the challenge Eastleigh will present. The Spitfires are pushing for a playoff spot and claimed a narrow 1-0 victory in the reverse fixture earlier this season.
“They’re having a strong campaign, and I felt we deserved something from the last game against them,” he added. “They are a well-run club with good resources, and we will give them the respect they deserve. Obviously, they’ve signed Nathan Tshikuna, and we all wish him well as he transitions into full-time football—it’ll be good to see him on Saturday.”
Squad News
Defender Jordan Cullinane-Liburd will miss the match as he awaits a scan for a sore groin. Meanwhile, Kai Lissemore and Ben Acquaye remain long-term absentees.
On a positive note, Ronan Maher returns from international duty, while Kyle Finn, who missed last weekend’s game due to his wife being close to giving birth, will also be available.
“I’ll have a good headache picking the matchday squad,” Peaks admitted, with a fully fit team at his disposal aside from the three absentees.
With belief growing in the squad and a strong run of form behind them, the Lambs will be aiming for another statement performance as they look to continue their rise up the table.
