PORT VALE BEHIND CLOSED DOORS

PORT VALE BEHIND CLOSED DOORS

Tamworth FC13 Jul - 15:05

One day away from our third pre season test

Tomorrow we face Port Vale behind closed doors in our third pre season friendly. The League Two team bring our toughest test yet as we face an EFL side for the first time this pre season. Port Vale who were FA Cup quarter finalists last campaign have added to their squad with a familiar face for Tamworth fans in Oli Lynch, last seasons top scorer.

Due to the game being played behind closed doors there will be no match day commentary nor live match updates. A match report and scoreline will be posted online after the full time whistle.

The Lambs face the Valiants off the back of a 2-1 win against Walton & Hersham last time out with Dan Creaney and TJ Bramble scoring the two goals. A delighted Andy Peaks said: “There was a lot of positives to take from the game, it was great to get 22 players 45 minutes each in the heat against a good side.

“There were many good performances to be honest, Creaney will always score you goals, it was a great ball from Morgan Roberts. TJ got the winner and you always want to win these games, it creates a good habit.

Over the weekend former Lambs players Joe Rye and Nathan Tshikuna rejoined the club and made their second debuts. Peaks confirmed: “We knew we wanted to bring back Joe Rye as he was excellent for us last year and has so much more to offer and Nathan Tshikuna was always someone I wanted to work with again, he has that quality that wins you games.”

On Port Vale, the Manager added: “It’ll be a big test and obviously they’re a good side, it’s nice to have games coming thick and fast so it is an opportunity for the lads to keep getting used to playing together and building their fitness. I’m looking forward to it.”
