The Lambs travelled to Boreham Wood last week and earnt a point on the road. Ben Milnes’ penalty deep into stoppage time levelled the scoreline at 3-3. Peaks explained how he wanted to continue the home record from previous seasons.
He said: “Over the years, we’ve made the Lamb a bit of a fortress, and we need to do that again.
“For me, our success this year needs to be based at the Lamb and anything to get away from home is a bonus. We want to make this a place where people don’t really want to come, and we want to get you, the fans, to get behind us from day one.”
AFC Fylde were promoted from the National League North last season under Craig Mahon, and Peaks expecting nothing other than a difficult test against The Coasters.
He said: “We’ve come up against each other a few times, and Craig Mahon has done a really good job there last year after getting relegated.
“He’s got a lot of good attacking players, and they’ll come into the game with momentum similar to us when we got out of the National League North. We know what sort of threat they’re going to bring and we’re going to have to be at our best to get something from the game.”
Touching on both the game and the support at Boreham Wood that saw 167 travelling fans make the journey down to Hertfordshire, Peaks said: “Last week, the game at Boreham Wood really tough.
“They’re one of the fancied teams, they knew exactly what they were doing and we knew how tough it was going to be. The work we put in to stop them playing was fantastic. We always felt we could catch them on the counter, which we did, but overall, the effort from the lads was spot on. It showed in the 102nd minute, and we deserved a point.
“The support was also unbelievable. We want to get the supporters behind us, and again for Tuesday night with the National League Cup. It was brilliant last year and the year before. It’s a good revenue stream for the club, and equally it’s good for the lads who are not playing quite as readily as they want on a Saturday to get minutes.”
