After trailing at the break, Dan Creaney managed to level the scores at 1-1, but the visitors edged back in front with 15 minutes to go. However, two late red cards for Worthing saw a penalty tucked away by Nathan Tshikuna before Morgan Roberts struck home deep into stoppage time to secure the three points.

Peaks said: “It was some finish in the end.

“A lot of excitement, and brilliant to come out on the right side of a game such as that. Overall, really pleased. We wanted to get some points on the board, we knew Worthing would be a good team, and at times it didn’t look like it was going to happen for us. One thing the lads did, they believed in it.”

The Lambs had plenty of opportunities to score in the first half, but it was Worthing that edged in front in the 44th minute with a strike from the edge of the box.

Peaks said: “We said at half time, keep the belief, keep the momentum, it’s a bit more like The Lamb tonight, the supporters got behind the boys, the longer it went on, people could see it. Fantastic, turned it around, and that’s everything I want from the team, really.”
Peaks also mentioned the change in fortunes from recent games, after they worked hard to cut out individual errors that were seen in previous games.

He said: “I thought first half we played okay; we were in the ascendancy. The keeper’s made saves, we’ve hit the post, and then suckerpunch, they’ve scored with a great finish from them. They’ve worked it, we go again. We spoke at half time and said there’s not a lot wrong; we haven’t made individual errors which we have in previous games.

“It was about ‘Let’s keep doing it.’ I always say the same, make sure with ten minutes to go that we’re still in this game, and that filtered through. We got a goal back, again, in the ascendancy probably, they break away and score with another good finish, but the lads dug really deep, the subs came on and played their part. I say this week in, week out. For us to be successful at this level, we need everyone, and I think tonight showed there were a lot of players who played their part.”
