Milnes & Cockerill-Mollett Commit to Tamworth: “We’re Not Done Yet”

Fresh off a historic season, two key players re-sign as the Lambs look to raise the bar even higher in 2025/26.

Tamworth FC have secured a major boost ahead of the 2025/26 campaign with the re-signing of two key players — midfielder Ben Milnes and defender Callum Cockerill-Mollett — following a season that captured the imagination of fans and set a high bar for what’s to come.

Both players played instrumental roles in a remarkable 2024/25 season that saw the Lambs reach the third round of the FA Cup, challenge for a play-off spot, and cap things off with a trophy — a feat made all the more impressive for a part-time squad.

For Milnes, the decision to extend his stay at the Lamb Ground was straightforward.

“After the season we’ve just had, the decision was really straightforward,” he said. “There’s a great feeling around the club — from the lads in the dressing room to the fans and the staff — and I really enjoyed it here.”

That sentiment was echoed by Cockerill-Mollett, who praised the togetherness within the squad and the support from the coaching team.

“It was an easy decision, really,” he said. “We have a really good group of players that get on really well, and it’s a joy to be part of it. The gaffer and coaching staff are great as well.”

Looking ahead, both players acknowledged the challenge of improving on what was a historic season, but their focus remains on hard work, unity, and belief.

“We set high standards last season,” Milnes said. “Now it’s about maintaining them and pushing even further. For me personally, it’s about staying fit, contributing as much as I can, and helping the team keep that momentum.”

“It will be hard to build on last season,” added Cockerill-Mollett. “To get to the third round of the FA Cup, fight for a play-off place until the end, and win a trophy was a massive achievement — especially as a part-time outfit. But we’re a group on the up, and we’ll work hard for each other and do our best to build on that.”

As preparations begin for the new campaign, both players shared a sense of excitement and optimism about what lies ahead.

“I’m looking forward to it,” said Milnes. “You get that bit of rest in the off-season, but then you start itching to get back out there. I think there’s a real sense of belief in the group.”

“I’m optimistic about the new season,” Cockerill-Mollett agreed. “I feel like last season we got better as it went on and learned there was nothing to fear in the league. Hopefully we can have another good, enjoyable season.”

With Milnes and Cockerill-Mollett committing their futures to the club, Tamworth FC head into pre-season with experience, hunger, and togetherness at the heart of their squad — and another exciting campaign on the horizon.
