Tamworth return to Enterprise National League action tomorrow with a 160-mile trip to Somerset, where they take on Yeovil Town at Huish Park.
The Lambs arrive in inspired form, having won back-to-back league fixtures against Altrincham and Boreham Wood, scoring eight goals in the process. It has been a terrific end to February, ending a six-game winless run and lifting Andy Peaks’ side up to tenth — above local rivals Solihull Moors — and within eight points of the play-offs, with two games in hand on FC Halifax Town in seventh.
With twelve matches remaining, Tamworth have created healthy distance between themselves and the relegation battle and are edging closer to securing their Step One status for a third consecutive season. Peaks has previously spoken about the importance of momentum in the final quarter of the campaign — and his side appear to be building just that.
Tomorrow’s opponents sit 18th, five points clear of Braintree Town in the final relegation position. Yeovil boosted their survival hopes last time out at Huish Park with a dramatic 3-2 victory over Sutton United, courtesy of two stoppage-time goals from James Daly and Brett McGavin. That result piled pressure on Sutton, Brackley Town and Braintree in what is shaping up to be a tight battle at the bottom.

Head-to-Head
The sides only met competitively for the first time in October 2024, playing out a goalless draw at The Lamb in National League action. That fixture formed part of a seven-point return from three games during an encouraging early-season run for Tamworth.
In the first meeting at Huish Park, The Lambs were beaten 2-1 despite Ronan Maher giving them a half-time lead. Goals from Charlie Cooper and Frank Nouble in quick succession turned the game in Yeovil’s favour.
However, in the reverse fixture earlier this season, Tamworth claimed their first victory over the Somerset side with a 1-0 win thanks to a Kennedy Digie goal — his first of five in the current campaign. Peaks’ side registered 18 shots that afternoon, and the result contributed to a seven-match unbeaten run during the opening months of the season.
Tomorrow presents another opportunity — this time to secure a first victory in Brympton d’Evercy.

Recent Form
Yeovil have won only two of their last eleven league matches — a run which has dragged The Glovers firmly into a relegation scrap.
They also suffered disappointment in the Isuzu FA Trophy quarter-final, losing 4-2 on penalties to National League South side Southport after a 1-1 draw in normal time. The defeat ended hopes of a first domestic cup triumph since their 2002 FA Trophy success over Stevenage at Villa Park.
After a promising spell earlier in the season — winning five of seven games between September and early October — results have dipped, and Yeovil now face a tense run-in. Having only narrowly avoided relegation last season following promotion from National League South, they will be determined to steer clear of another nervy finish.

One to Watch
Midfielder Luke McCormick has been one of Yeovil’s standout performers this season, contributing 11 goal involvements, including eight goals.
The 27-year-old, who signed permanently last summer following a loan spell from Bristol Rovers, can operate in both attacking and deeper midfield roles. A former Chelsea academy player, McCormick’s energy and goal threat from midfield make him a key figure in Yeovil’s survival push — and someone Tamworth will need to manage carefully.

Andy Peaks’ Post-Boreham Wood Comments
On back-to-back league victories:
“Brilliant from the lads. It was good to win the other night and we wanted to take that into Saturday against a strong Boreham Wood side. They moved the ball well and created good opportunities, so we’re delighted to get three points. We wanted a double over a fellow National League side and we’ve now done that in our last two games — a massive effort from everyone.”
On Yeovil Town:
“They need points, so they’ll put a shift in, and they’ll want to respond after the FA Trophy defeat. But I focus more on us than anything else. We’ll do our homework and show them respect, but ultimately it’s about what we do. We’re proving at the moment what a strong side we have, and we’ll go there wanting to win. There are a lot of hungry lads after earning six points last week.”
