National League Cup – Group A
Tuesday 16th December | 7:45pm KO | Altair Community Stadium
Tamworth FC return to the Altair Community Stadium on Tuesday night for their final Group A fixture in the National League Cup, as they take on Manchester United U21 with plenty on the line.
The Lambs go into the final round of group games unbeaten in the competition, having won all three of their matches so far. Sitting just behind Brackley Town, Andy Peaks’ side know that a positive result could see Tamworth top the group and secure progression to the quarter-finals.
Visitors Manchester United U21 head into the fixture having played three, won one and lost two, and will be looking to finish their group campaign on a high. However, they face a Tamworth side full of confidence and momentum.
Last time out in the competition, Peaksy’s men ran out convincing 3–0 winners against Blackburn Rovers U21, continuing an impressive run of form. This fixture also marks the third home game within a week for Tamworth, with the Lambs aiming to make it three wins on the bounce in front of the home supporters.
While Tamworth are dealing with a few injury concerns, the squad’s depth and resilience has been clear to see. That was highlighted once again at the weekend, as the Lambs showed tremendous character against Boston United to progress in the Isuzu FA Trophy, reinforcing the manager’s belief in the group available to him.
With knockout football up for grabs and home form to protect, it promises to be another big night under the lights.
