The Lambs had a brief hiatus to the league action in midweek as they were victorious in an eight-goal thriller in the National League Cup against Newcastle United (PL2). Academy player Vanylson Silva was among the scorers in a 5-3 victory.

Tamworth were defeated in the last league match as Kieren Donnelly’s opener against AFC Fylde was overturned and saw the Coasters win 2-1 at the H.D. Ricketts Community Stadium.
Meanwhile, FC Halifax Town were also victorious in midweek, securing an emphatic 6-2 victory over Derby County in the National League Cup.

They have, however, lost both league games so far, falling to a 3-2 defeat to Forest Green Rovers on the opening day before losing 3-1 at home to Boreham Wood.

Last season’s meetings between the sides saw Tamworth draw 2-2 at The Shay on Easter Monday, while the reverse fixture in December ended in a 2-0 defeat for the Lambs.
